Privacy Policy for Media Trk

Last updated: October 9, 2026

Media Trk ("the app", "we", "us") is a TV show tracking app for iOS, developed by Jose Mejía. This page explains what data the app handles, why, who it is shared with, and the choices and rights you have, wherever you live.

Summary

Who is responsible for your data

For the limited data described in this policy, the developer, Jose Mejía, acts as the data controller. You can contact us at mymediatrk@gmail.com. We do not collect your name or contact details through the app, so we generally cannot identify you from app data; see "Your rights" below.

No account required

Media Trk does not require you to create an account or sign in. There is no username, password, or personal profile associated with your use of the app.

Data stored on your device

The shows and episodes you track, which episodes you have watched, and your app preferences (such as theme, language, notification, and layout settings) are stored locally on your device. We do not receive this data and do not have access to it.

iCloud sync and backup

If you are signed into iCloud on your device and iCloud Sync is turned on in the app (Settings → iCloud → iCloud Sync, on by default), Media Trk uses Apple's CloudKit to store your library, meaning the shows you track and your watched-episode status, in your private iCloud database. This keeps your library in sync across your devices and lets you restore it on a new device.

Show data from TVmaze

All show and episode information in Media Trk comes from the TVmaze API. When you search for or track a show, requests are sent to TVmaze's servers to fetch that show's public data. As with any internet request, TVmaze can see your device's IP address and the show you requested. No account or personal information about you is sent by the app. Please refer to TVmaze's own policies for how they handle API request data.

Notifications

Media Trk may send local notifications (for example, to alert you when a new episode of a tracked show is airing, or a daily summary). These are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device and do not involve sending your data to a remote server. You can change or disable them at any time in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings → Notifications. The app may receive silent system notifications from Apple solely to keep iCloud sync up to date; these contain no personal content from us.

Crash and performance data (Firebase Crashlytics)

Media Trk uses Google's Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash and performance data so we can find and fix bugs and keep the app running smoothly. When the app crashes or encounters an error, information such as the crash log, device model, operating system version, app version, and the state of the app at the time of the crash may be sent to Google. Crashlytics also uses a randomly generated installation identifier to count unique crashes.

This information is not linked to your identity, is not used for tracking you across other apps or websites, and is not used for advertising. We do not use Firebase Analytics. See Google's Firebase privacy information for how Google handles this data.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Media Trk displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve, personalize, limit the frequency of, and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, AdMob and its partners may collect and use:

This data is collected and processed by Google and its partners, not by us directly. See how Google uses data when you use partner apps.

Data we do not collect

Summary of data and why we use it

Sharing and international transfers

The only third parties that receive data from the app are Google (AdMob for ads and Firebase Crashlytics for crash and performance data), TVmaze (for show data), and Apple (for iCloud and the App Store). They process data on their own behalf or on our behalf under their own terms. We do not sell your personal data and do not share it for any other purpose.

Google, TVmaze, and Apple may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States, which may have different data protection laws. Where data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland is transferred, it relies on safeguards such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) or Standard Contractual Clauses, as applicable to each provider.

How long we keep data

We do not hold your library or preferences; they stay on your device and in your iCloud until you delete them (deleting the app removes the local copy; iCloud data can be deleted in iOS settings). Crash and performance data is retained by Google for a limited period (generally up to 90 days for Crashlytics). Advertising data is retained by Google according to its own policies.

Your rights

Everyone: You control your data: you can turn off iCloud Sync, delete the app and its data, manage notification and tracking permissions in iOS Settings, and change your ad choices as described above.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, the right to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing), and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are in California or another U.S. state with a privacy law (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and others), you may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request access, correction, or deletion, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information for money. Showing personalized ads through Google AdMob may count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some state laws; you can opt out through iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and the Ad Privacy Options button in the app's Settings. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

If you are elsewhere (for example Brazil, Canada, Australia, Colombia, or Japan), you have the rights provided by your local data protection law, which generally include similar rights of access, correction, and deletion.

Because the app does not collect your name or contact details, and your library data is held in your own iCloud account, we usually cannot identify or retrieve data about you ourselves. For the data described here that sits with Google, TVmaze, or Apple, you may need to contact them directly or use the controls in their products. To make a request, email mymediatrk@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (for example, within one month under GDPR) and may ask you for information needed to handle your request.

Security

Data is stored on your device under iOS's built-in protections, and your iCloud data is protected by Apple. Connections to our third-party providers use encryption in transit. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit the data the app handles to reduce risk.

Children's privacy

Media Trk is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where the law of your country sets that age for consent to data processing), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will work with the relevant provider to have it removed.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, for example if we begin collecting new kinds of data, we will tell you in the app or in the App Store update notes where appropriate, and will ask for your consent again where the law requires.
